Record what the catalog actually establishes
A China wholesale product catalog may help you discover item codes, photos, options, or supplier context. It does not establish factory status, wholesale eligibility, current price, minimum quantity, stock, shipping, or authorization. Record those fields separately instead of letting the word “wholesale” fill the gaps.
Four pages may be doing four different jobs
| Page or party | What it can help with | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Product catalog | Photos, categories, codes and visible options | Current price, availability and transaction terms |
| Supplier contact | Quote, MOQ, option mix and preparation estimate | Identity, authority and written terms |
| Marketplace or checkout | Listing, payment and platform policy | Whether it matches the saved catalog item |
| Carrier, forwarder or agent | Packing, route and shipping quote | Final measurement, exclusions and delivery conditions |
Do not merge these roles simply because the same product photo appears on several pages.
Begin with a neutral description
Before searching for a supplier name or brand, describe the object in plain terms: product type, material, shape, intended use, color and any visible code. A neutral description makes it easier to compare similar pages and notice when a result changes category.
Build a catalog record that another person could understand
- Catalog URL and date accessed
- Category and a short neutral description
- Product code, copied exactly
- Visible colors, sizes, materials and set contents
- Measurement or size-chart status
- Which photos are present and which useful views are missing
- Any source, marketplace or contact link shown on the page
- Questions that remain open
Why a wholesale price list is not the complete cost
A displayed number may refer to a different quantity tier, option, currency, date or packing basis. Even a current unit price does not show the complete first-order total. Quantity terms, option charges, packing, shipping and stated exclusions remain separate fields.
Use the MOQ guide for quantity tiers and the shipping quote guide for freight context. Keep unknown amounts blank rather than borrowing values from another item.
Choose the next question from the missing field
| Missing field | Useful next action |
|---|---|
| No clear item identity | Search the exact code and compare the returned description |
| No measurements | Ask for a size chart or actual dimensions for the selected option |
| No quantity basis | Clarify whether MOQ applies per model, color, size, carton or order |
| No item-specific evidence | Ask what QC photos can be provided and when |
| No delivered-cost context | Request packed measurements before comparing shipping routes |
Reasons to stop and ask again
- The quote refers to a different code or option than the saved page.
- The contact name changes across the catalog, marketplace and message.
- A price has no currency, quantity basis or date.
- Stock, authenticity, factory-direct status or worldwide delivery is claimed without verifiable context.
- Payment is requested before the basic item, quantity and transaction terms are clear.
Turn the record into a concise inquiry
Once the catalog row is complete, send only the fields required to identify the item and answer the next questions. The first-inquiry guide provides a message structure that works for WhatsApp, email or a public business contact form without inventing a supplier relationship.
What the record cannot establish
A complete row can make comparison easier, but it does not prove who owns a listing, whether stock is current, or whether a transaction will be completed. Keep the buyer-safety checks separate from product research.
